I don't even know who wanted to save me.

[Orion would want him to live instead of dying. Even if it meant something like that. He knows how deeply that means Orion cares for him. It doesn't help to lessen the confusion from the memory but at the same time it does help to know that his boyfriend cares so much.

His voice is quiet when he speaks again.]

You said...I can stay here tonight?

Yea, of course you can.

[He rubs Biffy's back with a hand and kisses the top of his head.

Keeping an arm wrapped around him, he gently tugs him to the kitchen so he can stir the pasta to keep it from burning. Then he promptly returns to properly cuddling Biffy.]

We can do whatever you want - stay up all night and talk, watch movies, or just settle down for the night.

[He nods and comes with him to the kitchen. The food smells good and he takes note of that. Even if he's not really that hungry at all.]

I should try to eat something first when the food is done.

[He knows better than to go without food just because of this.]

I...didn't bring any clothes. May I borrow some for the night?

Of course you can.

... The food'll be ready in a few more minutes, actually.

[Reluctantly, he lets go of Biffy so he can make sure nothing burns in the final stages of cooking. Poking things with food thermometers and the like.]

If you want to go get changed first, you're more than welcome to.

[Lightly, he pressed a kiss to his cheek then went to the bedroom so he could get changed. Usually he wasn't one for wearing sleep clothes so early but right now he was rather eager to have Orion's scent so close.

Going through his clothes he found a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt. The pants were long on him so he had to roll the bottoms up a bit but he knew he was at least with someone who wouldn't mind. With that, he went back out to the other room and rested his cheek on Orion's shoulder.]

The food smells good.

[He was just finishing up the plates, adding a little grated cheese to the top of them as Biffy rests on his shoulder.

There's a soft smile in his voice.]

Yea, I hope you like it.

You want anything to drink? It's mostly juice, milk, or water.

Or coffee. I can make coffee, too.

Water will be fine.

[He hums softly then goes to sit down so that way he's out of the way. It's far easier to cook if he's not all over Orion and he knows that.]

I suppose it's good that one of us knows how to cook. I can barely do anything in the kitchen save for simple snacks and tea.

Huh? Yea, I can cook.

[Not that the mess he was before would have suggested anything of it.

A smile from Orion as he serves a plate and water in front of Biffy.]

Don't worry, I can take care of you. You'll never go hungry with me around.

[He retreats to the kitchen for a moment to retrieve his own plate and then sets himself in the seat beside Biffy.]

That's a relief. Who knows what might have become of me otherwise.

[Though he's not that hungry, he still does take a bite of the food. Really he's impressed that it's so good and he sighs at the flavor.]

Yea, no problem.

[Orion still worries a little, over Biffy's memory. But he doesn't want to pressure it. Anything Biffy is comfortable talking about, he'll come to him. He's sure of it. Biffy's always been straightforward before.

So he'll take a bite of his own food as he thinks, trying to opt for distracting Biffy from the memory.]

You know, I was wondering - when's your birthday?

[dandyofawolf]

[The way he blinks shows that the distraction is working. A good way to get him to not think about something unpleasant is to...completely throw him off.]

My birthday? October 10th. It's still a fair distance away actually.

[Oh, wow.]

So when we first met, it was only a little after your birthday.

[He feels kind of sad that he missed it, although entirely understandable. Can't help what you didn't know.]

That's right. I'd only recently turned twenty-two.

[It's rather amazing to think about honestly.]

When is your own?

[Orion blinks. Oops.

He needs to think his questions through better. It's always weird when they get deflected back at him.

He pokes around at the food on his plate, trying to pass it off like it's no big deal.]

Uhh... November eleventh.

[dandyofawolf]

[He pauses.

And then he stares at Orion.]

November eleventh.

[Orion nods slowly.]

Yea. It's on the eleventh. Uhm...

[He honestly didn't think anything of it. He swears.]

[dandyofawolf]

The eleventh of November. After we'd already started going on dates.

[How do you keep putting yourself in these situations, Orion?]

Uhm... yes?

[Orion's visibly becoming more nervous. Disappointed Biffy already makes him sorry. He feels like a messy apartment filled with liquor bottles is about to be pretty low on that list.]

So you missed my birthday because we didn't know each other. However I missed your birthday because someone didn't tell me it was coming up until months after it passed?

I, uh.... I didn't think about it.

I honestly don't celebrate it, so... It kind of? Slipped my mind???

[dandyofawolf]

[He sighs so heavily.]

I will let this slide simply because we'd just started dating at the time. However please know that I would like to celebrate with you this coming November. You are important to me. Even if it is only the two of us spending time together I'd like to at least be there with you.

[Thank you, Biffy. Sob.]

Yea, I promise. We'll get to do something together on my birthday.

It's fine, Orion. As exasperating as you might be sometimes I still care about you. This isn't about to change that.

[He smiles at him fondly and reaches out to gives his hand a squeeze.]

[Orion gently squeezes Biffy's hand back, giving a smile.]

Yea, thank you.

[He's going to need to put effort into this thinking thing, though. He doesn't want Biffy to feel left out. Especially when he doesn't mean to.]

Just... no giant parties, okay? I'm not used to that sort of thing.

I did say it could just be the two of us. I really mean that.

[He figures Orion would honestly be happier with that anyway. Just the two of them enjoying his birthday together. Making good memories that way.]
