He needs to think his questions through better. It's always weird when they get deflected back at him.

He pokes around at the food on his plate, trying to pass it off like it's no big deal.]

Uhh... November eleventh.

[He pauses.

And then he stares at Orion.]

[Orion nods slowly.]

Yea. It's on the eleventh. Uhm...

[He honestly didn't think anything of it. He swears.]

The eleventh of November. After we'd already started going on dates.

[How do you keep putting yourself in these situations, Orion?]

Uhm... yes?

[Orion's visibly becoming more nervous. Disappointed Biffy already makes him sorry. He feels like a messy apartment filled with liquor bottles is about to be pretty low on that list.]

So you missed my birthday because we didn't know each other. However I missed your birthday because someone didn't tell me it was coming up until months after it passed?

I, uh.... I didn't think about it.

I honestly don't celebrate it, so... It kind of? Slipped my mind???

[He sighs so heavily.]

I will let this slide simply because we'd just started dating at the time. However please know that I would like to celebrate with you this coming November. You are important to me. Even if it is only the two of us spending time together I'd like to at least be there with you.

Yea, I promise. We'll get to do something together on my birthday.

It's fine, Orion. As exasperating as you might be sometimes I still care about you. This isn't about to change that.

[He smiles at him fondly and reaches out to gives his hand a squeeze.]

[Orion gently squeezes Biffy's hand back, giving a smile.]

Yea, thank you.

[He's going to need to put effort into this thinking thing, though. He doesn't want Biffy to feel left out. Especially when he doesn't mean to.]

Just... no giant parties, okay? I'm not used to that sort of thing.

I did say it could just be the two of us. I really mean that.

[He figures Orion would honestly be happier with that anyway. Just the two of them enjoying his birthday together. Making good memories that way.]

[He honestly really would. He doesn't like making a big deal over his birthday. He can just imagine all the fussing he would get if word got out. Parties already aren't his thing. Even less so now that they aren't an excuse for drinking.

He gives a smile.]

Yea, thanks. I really appreciate it.

[He laughs softly and shakes his head.]

[Damn, caught in the act. And here he was trying so hard, too. He looks sheepish.]

[He takes another bite of food then pauses to look over at him again.]

I have sort of made it a habit to get to know you better than anyone else though. For personal interest.

[He doesn't effort to try and hide anything. He just figures people don't notice it. Despite many proofs to otherwise.]

Huh? How come?

[What makes him so special? Probably because you're his boyfriend, Orion. Jesus. He's forever clueless.]

[He lifts a brow at him.]

Possibly because we're dating?

[Orion's face colours in embarrassment, and he slaps a palm over his face.]

I just... [How does he say something he's not sure of himself? He doesn't get it.] Is it weird that I'm.... confused, kinda?

Not about you! I like you. I don't want you to go anywhere. I just mean... I dunno. I didn't think anyone would actually be into me, I guess.

Months later and you're still surprised by that? Here I thought I made it clear from day one. Even before I got on the app.

[He actually looks mildly amused.]

[Orion pauses to think. Has it really been months already? And he's still in the gun-shy stage of things. ....He really is weird. But none of this relationship has ever been anything of what he's used to - the old hookup and ditch. Orion is always treading carefully.]

Yea, I'm still surprised. I'm just... not used to it, I guess.

Uh... would you mind telling me again, though? If it's not too weird for me to ask...

[He looks amused but he finds the request endearing.]

Orion, I found myself attracted to you the moment I first laid eyes on you. When I found out you were interested in me too I was elated.

[Of course he was. He wouldn't be here otherwise, right? This relationship has gone on too long for it to be some sort of prank.

Orion flusters, but can't help smiling a bit.]

I'm really glad I asked you out on a date, then. I was just... amazed, happy, when you said yes.

[And when he asked for Biffy to be his boyfriend. In spite of all of Orion's awkwardness, they made it this far.]
